We have used and trusted Owner hooks for many
years. We first came across them in the early 90's when the spade end Iseama pattern was the weapon of choice for boilie fishing for carp. These same hooks are still available in the traditional black finish. The eyed versions have been a regular addition to the tackle box for a few years and have landed many of the carp and barbel the team have had in recent seasons.
Sam's past seasons efforts with the Tsuoshi pattern
fished with braided hooklinks have safely landed
several fish from a very weedy water. These are odd looking hooks, short shank, wide gape and a wicked offset straight point. Heavy on the wire gauge too. Iseamas
are still the favourite for Barbel, very strong
and light for the size, the curved point and straight eye is
perfect for hair rigged boilies or pellet with
mono hooklinks. The Aya patter, with a mean inturned point, short shank and inturned eye are best fished with some shring tubing over the eye and a long hair. This way they turn very quickly into the bottom lip.
The size 10 and size 12 iseamas are making excellent chub hooks. We are eagerly awaiting the new Iseama X pattern in a stronger wire. More information on these when we get some. Owner also make arguably the best braid blades on the market. At £12 a pair they are not cheap, but will last a lot longer than cheaper models. We know, we have broken plenty of other inferior scissors.
